We build our Shepherds Huts in a range of styles and features to make them unique and specially suited to you. Whether it's a bed, a shower, a stove or solar panels, there really is very little we can't do! Please note, as standard our unfurnished huts come with:

Natural larch feather edge cladding
A single hardwood stable door
One 750 mm x 900 mm double glazed window
A choice of solid oak or engineered oak flooring
A secure fixed hardwood and steel axle with wheels
Painted Neatmatch and dado-rail interior.
Our Hideaway, Retreat and Wild Rover huts are insulated in the ceiling with multi-foil blanket insulation and with a choice of eco-friendly sheep wool or high performance polyurethane in the floor and walls.

Note: All of our Shepherds Huts, unless specified, are 7ft 6inch wide- Ideal for for a full sized bed to fit inside!

Joinery

Our starting price includes a single stable door and one 750mm x 900mm double glazed sash window. We can also fit custom made and stained glass windows- Let us know what you want!

Our Hideaway models look best with a stable door as it creates a cosy, intimate feel.

The Retreat is highly popular with a double door as it lets in the light.

A 750mm high by 915mm wide double glazed window comes as standard with our huts and we can always add, remove or replace to suit. Shown here with rustic wooden shutters.

Our larger 1770mm wide x 900mm high window gives a great panoramic view!

These vintage stained glass windows measure about 450mm x 400mm and make a great little feature. As they are reclaimed, the design can vary.

External Finishes

Our starting price includes feather edge cladding with tanalised pressure treated larch which we leave in a natural timber finish.

We can also quote to paint your hut in your choice of colour with all our finishes- from there you only need to re-paint every 5 years or so to keep your hut in top condition.

Timber shiplap: Add £210
Ply & Batten: Subtract £210

Feather Edge looks great when left natural and is one of our more popular finishes. When unpainted, this fades in time to an attractive silvery grey.

Feather Edge also looks fantastic painted in a range of colours.

Shiplap creates a more contemporary style hut and looks great painted in your ideal colours.

Ply & Batten is a lightweight and cost effective cladding.

Built in Furniture

We build our huts especially for our customers and furnish them to suit. Sometimes a client just wants an empty space to put their sofa or that grandfather chair that's been in the family for generations, other times they might want a completely bespoke office set up, bookshelves made to measure a certain size of book, bunk beds and more!

That's why our skilled team of carpenters and joiners have both created some truly unique fit outs for some customers and sourced the ideal ones for others. Here are just a few examples of the features we've built in.

Beds
All our beds come with a choice of foam or spring mattresses. If you've got a particular mattress in mind, we can usually source them at trade prices for you so let us know! You may even want to provide your own sofa, futon or sofa-bed. Again, we can source or custom built these too.

Our private bed-chambers combine comfort and privacy with the practicality of storage.

Our bunk beds are already a huge hit in the Shepherds Huts at Swattesfield Campsite.

We can also build in storage hatches or boxes under the beds.

Addition of reading lights make the private chambers good for couples or those who want to stay up with a good book!

Desks and Tables

We can design these to collapse against the wall when not in use to save space. Exact sizes of desks can be fine-tuned.

Our exclusive Bespoke Branded Oak desk has built in storage, holes for electrical sockets and a branded glass inlay- perfect for your company's logo!

Our folding oak tables can be sized to suit and collapse against the wall when not in use- Perfect for saving space.

Storage

Whether it's summer hideaway, an authors personal library or an office for the National Trust, we've fitted out our huts with a range of storage options. Here are a few examples, but if in doubt give us a call on 01603 397777!

It's also worth mentioning that our beds normally have hidden storage underneath- We don't waste an inch of hut!

Heating and Shepherds Hut Stoves

Note: All of our stoves and fittings are based on HETAS installation regulations, with insulated flue pipe systems, air vents, Carbon Monoxide & smoke detectors fitted with all wood burning stoves. As far as we know, we're the only Shepherds Hut builders who do! Although there are no specific HETAS regulations relating to Shepherds Hut installations, we have based our specification and installation on current boat regulations.

We're happy to source and fit your own choice of stove (provided it's safe!) but below are the cost of our favourites. Our stoves come with an insulated flue, CO & smoke detector, louvre vents, fire-back and a riven slate hearth.

The Thames Barge stove is an ideal size to warm the hut without turning it into an oven! It is fitted with an insulated flue pipe compliant with HETAS guidelines.

For those interested in safety, or who may want extra space during the summer, we can fit a cast iron Calor gas stove which is safe and easy to use. It can simply be removed, along with the hearth, if not needed!

We can also provide other methods of heating, including electric stove heaters or kick heaters.

Electricity

Note: Prices do not include the digging and laying of electrical cables on site. A site survey may be required.

Standard Mains Electrical Installation: Add £400

(Includes 2 x double electrical sockets, 2 x interior wall lights, 1 x exterior wall light and a 16 amp electrical hook up)

Solar Electric Package: Add £380

(Includes a solar panel, 25 amp/hr 12V battery, 2 x interior wall lights, 1 exterior wall light and a USB charging point.)

We can position electrical sockets to suit and even provide different style switches.

We can fit a range of light fixtures depending on your taste. For example, these antique gas style lamps actually contain 5 Watt LED bulbs and give the hut a satisfyingly old-timey feel.
